Ford Mark II (1966 24 Hours of Le Mans - Gurney/Grant) - 1:43 Scale Model Car

$ 75.00

Any championship-winning coach will tell you that one of the keys to success is to have a strong bench. Such was the case at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans, when Henry Ford II's quest to vanquish archrival Ferrari came good with an historic 1-2-3 photo finish. The story of the top-three finishers (including winners Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon) is well known to racing enthusiasts, but Ford's dominance of the 1966 event was thanks to an overwhelming performance by the EIGHT Mark IIs entered by three separate teams...a deep bench indeed! Among those eight hard-charging Mark IIs was the Shelby-American entry of Dan Gurney and Jerry Grant, which set a blistering pace while leading the race's early stages before retiring in the 17th hour with cooling system failure. Though individually unsuccessful, the Gurney/Grant Ford Mark II was an integral part of Ford's first win at Le Mans, laying the groundwork for the company's future dominance (and for Gurney's own win there in 1967). Spark's 1:43-scale resin replica of the Dan Gurney/Jerry Grant Ford Mark II should be considered an essential addition to any collection of 1960s endurance racing models. It features an outstanding level of detail, including perfectly rendered fine trim pieces and authentic Halibrand wheels.

SPECIFICATIONS: 1:43 scale (approximately four inches in length). Resin body, no opening parts. Fixed-position steering. Comes with acrylic dust cover and embossed display base.

PERFECT FOR: Le Mans model collectors. Dan Gurney fans. Devotees of the Blue Oval.
