Developed as a successor to the mighty D-Type, Jaguar's E-Type Lightweight was the Coventry company's primary weapon in 1960s sports car racing. Though not as successful as the era's dominant GT racer, the Ferrari GTO, the aluminum-bodied E-Type Lightweight nonetheless achieved good results on the international stage in the hands of privateers such as Briggs Cunningham and Bob Jane. Only twelve Lightweights were completed, and are now among the most coveted Jaguars ever created.

AUTOart's newly released 1:18-scale Jaguar E-Type Lightweight is a prime example of the possibilities offered by their evolving ABS "Composite" construction method. Detail on the Lightweight is nothing short of exquisite, from the fully realized engine compartment to the authentically rendered roll cage. Jaguar enthusiasts should not hesitate to add this magnificent piece to their scale-model fleets.
