Porsche Racing's journey from small-bore hero to total world domination was built as much on reliability as it was on speed. Even as its sports cars and prototypes grew larger, more powerful, and faster, their secret weapon in bagging championships was a high finishing percentage. Case in point: the 1966 Targa Florio, 10 grueling, car-breaking laps of the 72-kilometer "Piccolo" circuit of Sicily's public roads. Only 29 of the race's 72 starters would be classified as finishers, with three of the top five spots going to the lithe Porsche 906.

In our effort to offer a depth of subject matter beyond just race-winning cars, Model Citizen is proud to offer the 3rd and 5th-place finishing Porsche 906s from the 1966 Targa Florio in stunning 1:43-scale resin replicas by Spark.  Presented here are the 3rd-place #144 Porsche works entry, driven by Antonio Pucci and Vincenzo Arena, and the 5th-place #150 Ecurie Filipinetti entry of Claude Bourillot and Umberto Maglioli. Differentiated not just by number and livery, but also by fine aerodynamic details, each car has been expertly recreated in scale by the masters at Spark, and feature exactingly detailed interiors, wheels and sponsor decals. For the completist collector of Porsche racing models, the "bench" players of Porsche's effort at the 1966 Targa Florio are compelling choices.
