The Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Zagato was one of the most successful racing sports cars of the late 1950s, but under increasing pressure in the small-displacement categories from Lotus and Abarth, further development was required to keep the car competitive in the 1960s. The fruit of this development work was the Series II Sprint Zagato, a lighter, more powerful evolution of the original. Only 200 of these S2 SZs were built, with the final 44 in "Coda Tronca" specification with an aerodynamic Kamm tail. Capable of tremendous speed with only 1300cc of engine displacement, these rare SZ Coda Troncas are now highly prized by Alfa Romeo collectors.
