Alfa Romeo T33/2 Le Mans - 1:18 Scale Model Car
Launched in 1965, the Tipo 33 program was Alfa Romeo’s Great Leap Forward in international sports car racing, as the company sought to produce a line of cars that could contend for major championships. Starting with an exotic 2-liter V8 and a nimble chassis, the T33 would evolve into a dominant sports racer that would ultimately claim the World Championship for Makes in 1975. An important link in this evolutionary chain was the 1968 T33/2 Le Mans, a long-tail prototype designed for maximum speed and stability in the great endurance race from which it drew its name. Though the large-displacement Ford GT40s and Porsche 908s would claim the headlines in a fierce battle for overall victory (ultimately going to the Ford) the Alfa Romeo team would thoroughly dominate the 2-liter prototype class with the T33/2, taking the top three spots in class and fourth, fifth and sixth overall. The fourth-place car, driven by Nanni Galli and Ignazio Giunti, is now available in an exceptionally fine 1:18-scale resin replica by Spark. Impressively detailed and faithfully scaled, the Spark T33/2 Le Mans evokes a very significant time and place in Alfa Romeo history in vibrant realism, and is a worthy addition to any collection of classic Le Mans racing models.
