Alfa Romeo T33/3 - 1971 Nurburgring 1000km - 1:43-Scale Diecast Model Car
Though large-displacement Group 5 sports cars got all the glory in the 1971 World Championship for Makes, there were ample opportunities throughout the season for small, nimble spyders to capture victories at circuits that favored handling over raw power. One such car was the Alfa Romeo T33/3, an evolution of the Tipo 33s that had served the venerable Italian marque admirably during the late 1960s. Though outgunned by the two-pronged assault of Porsche's big-bore 917 and lithe 908/3, the T33/3 nevertheless scored four overall wins during the 1971 season, carrying Alfa Romeo to a strong second-place finish in the World Championship for Makes and setting the stage for championships to come. Two of Alfa's leading torch-bearers that '71 season were Rolf Stommelen and Nanni Galli, whose T33/3 is captured here in faithful 1:43 scale by Minichamps. Featuring classic diecast metal construction and beautiful structural detail, the Minichamps T33/3 is an essential addition to any collection of scale-model racing Alfas.
