The company-defining BMW 2002 was an incredibly tough act to follow, but its successor, the 3-Series, would become a legend in its own right. The first-generation 3-Series, known to enthusiasts by its E21 chassis code, marked a shift from "sports sedan" to "compact executive" status for BMW's smallest car, and arguably became the first automotive status symbol of the Yuppie generation. However, with a 2.3-liter inline six in top specification, the E21 was still a sporting machine par excellence. Maxichamps' new 1:43-scale diecast replica of the BMW 323i captures the handsome Paul Bracq styling and iconic three-box stance of the E21 to perfection. Of special note are the classic BMW "turbine wheels" and roundel badging, which are rendered with a degree of detail found in more expensive models.
