Kenyan rally ace Shekhar Mehta was the most dominant force at the Safari Rally throughout the 1970s and early 1980s, scoring five overall victories in the punishing off-road event. A loyal Nissan factory driver for most of his career, Mehta (along with navigator Mike Doughty) would claim his final Safari Rally win in 1982 after a fierce battle with archrival Rauno Aaltonen's Opel Ascona. This career-capping win is memorialized in Spark Models' new 1:43-scale resin replica of Shekhar Mehta's 1982 Datsun Violet GT.
