When car enthusiasts hear the words "homologation special," they usually think of slinky Italian GTs or perhaps fire-spitting Japanese rally cars. But, for one glorious moment at the end of the 1960s, America had its own homologation specials: the "aero cars," built in minimum quantities of 500 in order to qualify for NASCAR competition. Perhaps best-known of these limited-production, aerodynamically sculpted musclecars is the Dodge Charger Daytona, introduced in 1969 to re-establish Chrysler Corporation's dominance over stock car racing. Featuring a bullet-shaped nose cone and prominent rear wing, the racing version of the Charger Daytona would become the first NASCAR racer to achieve a speed over 200 miles per hour. 503 street versions of the Dodge Charger Daytona were completed, and today are among the most sought-after of all musclecars.

Spark's 1:43-scale resin replica of the 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona is a welcome entry in a scale more commonly associated with European racers. It features Spark's customarily exacting level of detail, including delicate hood pins, accurately sculpted "steelie" wheels, and beautifully rendered "DAYTONA" graphics.
