Ferrari 288 GTO (1984) - 1:18 Scale Model Car by Amalgam
If any single car can embody the bonkers automotive ethic of the 1980s, it's the 1984 Ferrari 288 GTO. Developed both as a would-be entrant for the stillborn Group B road racing series, and also as a return to the bleeding edge of supercar performance by Ferrari, the 288 GTO started with the familiar 308 platform and added a twin-turbocharged, 400 horsepower V8 and wide, lightweight fiberglass fenders. The result was an absolute monster of a sports car, capable of 0-60 blasts in 5 seconds flat with a top speed of 180 miles per hour. Now regarded as the first "modern" Ferrari supercar, only 272 288 GTOs were built, making it among the most coveted of all 1980s classics.
