In the years preceding the rise of the all-wheel-drive supercars of Group B, the World Rally Championship was contested by two-wheel-drive sports and saloon cars. One of the most memorable rally cars of the rear-drive rally era was the Group 4 Ferrari 308GTB, an exoticar that wasn't afraid to get a little mud on its flanks. Though never a serious contender on the WRC stage, the 308 did find success in national rallying in the hands of privateers like Italian ace Mauro Pregliasco. In 1981, he piloted a wide-flared 308GTB to a solid second place finish in the Rally 4 Regioni, a highlight in Ferrari's brief foray into rallying that has been memorialized in a beautiful 1:18-scale resin model by Ottomobile. It features exquisite exterior detail, including prominent auxiliary lighting and mudguards, as well as luminous sponsorship livery.
