The story of Ford's victory at Le Mans in 1966 has been told more than enough times to require a recounting here, but as the motion picture Ford v. Ferrari reminded us, the race should have been won by Ken Miles and Denis Hulme in their #1 Ford Mk. II. The class of the field from the start of the race, the car was utterly dominant, but was denied its richly deserved victory due to a rules technicality resulting from Ford's staged 1-2-3 finish. A winner in spirit, though, the Miles/Hulme Mk. II is now the subject of a brilliant 1:43-scale resin replica by Spark Models. Beautiful and clean in its light blue livery, Spark's #1 Mk. II features perfectly rendered Halibrand knock-off wheels and gem-like lights and interior components. For the legion of recently converted Ken Miles fans, as well as for Ford devotees and Le Mans historians, the Spark 1996 Mk. II #1 is a must-have model car.
