The 1991 Jordan 191 is regarded as one of the most beautiful Formula One race cars ever created, but the car's true significance can be boiled down to one simple event: it served as Michael Schumacher's first-ever mount in F1. Drafted into service for the 1991 Belgian Grand Prix as a replacement for incarcerated driver Bertrand Gachot, Schumacher was a revelation in qualifying, putting the less-than-competitive 191 in solid 7th-place grid position on the fearsome Spa-Francorchamps circuit. A broken clutch would end Schumacher's debut race on the very first lap, but the writing was on the wall: the young German was a generational talent and a future champion, for certain.
The beautiful and important Jordan 191 that carried Michael Schumacher to his F1 debut is now available as a 1:43-scale resin replica by the master modellers at Spark. Packed with fine detail from front to back, the 191's famous 7UP/Fujifilm livery is captured to perfection, with crisp sponsor details, as well as a delightfully accurate depiction of Schumacher's helmet.
