After winning three consecutive World Rally Championships between 1974 and 1976, the Fiat group was ready to move on from the dominant Lancia Stratos HF to support its new Fiat 131 rally car. The Stratos, however, was not ready to exit the rally scene quietly. At the Rally Monte Carlo, opening round of the 1977 WRC, a privately-entered Stratos in the hands of legendary driver Sandro Munari claimed overall victory in challenging, icy conditions, proving the purpose-built Stratos to be more than the measure of a new crop of rally cars. This historically significant Stratos is now the subject of a highly detailed 1:43-scale resin replica by Spark.
