Le Mans in 1994 was a very strange place, with de-contented Group C cars doing battle with loophole-exploiting "road version" Porsche 962s, along with a host of new production-based GT racers. Into this mix, the ACO added a new category for IMSA GTO racers, and while Nissan's dominant 300ZX GTS would claim victory in the category, Mazda's generation-old RX-7 showed the viability of rotary power by taking second in class while finishing 15th overall...a strong showing in a year that saw massive attrition amongst the field. A fascinating footnote in Mazda and Le Mans history, the #74 RX-7 GTO of Team ArtNature is now available as a highly detailed 1:18-scale resin model by TopSpeed. Its unique blue livery is complimented by authentic gold race wheels and an accurate cockpit.
