Peugeot 205 GTI (1990) - 1:43 Scale Diecast Model Car
The Peugeot 205 GTI may not have been the first "hot hatch," but it is widely regarded as the finest of the breed, an '80s icon revered by knowledgeable car lovers around the world. By combining the era's finest front-wheel-drive handling with a high level of practicality, the 205 GTI won loud acclaim from the motoring press of the day, ultimately claiming Car magazine's "Car of the Decade" title. It also served as the foundation for the greatest of all Group B rally cars, the 205 T16, which would claim back-to-back constructor's and driver's titles in the 1985 and 1986 World Rally Championship. Highly prized by driving enthusiasts even to this day, the 205 GTI stands as a defining car of its era.
Maxichamps, the new entry-level line of diecast model cars from Minichamps, has just released their 1:43-scale replica of the beloved Peugeot 205 GTI as it appeared in 1990 (facelifted and covered in limited-edition Miami Blue). Though economically priced, the Maxichamps 205 GTI features tremendous detail and a lustrous finish. Of particular note is the delicate badging on the rear hatch, presented at a level more consistent with 1:43-scale cars costing nearly twice as much.
