The early 1950s saw the beginnings of widespread adoption of the Porsche 356 by amateur racers and rallyists, drawn by the car's nimble handling and sturdy reliability. In the 1954 running of the prestigious Monte Carlo Rally, no fewer than eleven 356s took part, among them the beautiful red split-windscreen Pre-A 1100 Coupe of Swiss drivers Schild & Bjornestad. Though appearing far down the finishing order in 101st place out of 329 entries, their simple, elegant 356 nonetheless is a memorable piece of rally history now commemorated by Spark's wonderful new 1:43-scale resin replica. Its body is cast with uncommon accuracy, while fine trim pieces such as the iconic three-spoke white steering wheel, rally plaques and Swiss number plates add an incredible level of detail.
