Porsche 908/2 (1969 Watkins Glen 6 Hours Winner) - 1:18 Scale Diecast Model Car

Regular price $ 160.00 Sale price $ 89.00

By the time the 1969 running of the Six Hours of Watkins Glen was to occur, Porsche had already locked up the World Sportscar Championship constructor's title. However, a poor showing at the earlier 24 Hours of Daytona had left the German powerhouse hungry for redemption on American shores. That redemption would come at Watkins Glen, when a trio of lightweight 908/2 Spyders would shine through rain-soaked conditions to score a sweep of the podium. Claiming overall victory was the Porsche of Austria-liveried 908 of endurance aces Jo Siffert and Brian Redman, who led every lap of the race on the same set of Dunlop "intermediate" tires, setting a prototype lap record in the process.

AUTOart's brilliant 1:18-scale diecast model of the 1969 Watkins Glen-winning Porsche 908/2 Spyder is a fine tribute to a significant (if somewhat overlooked) race car. Its graceful lines have been recreated to perfection, with opening components that reveal a wealth of detail within, right down to those legendary Dunlop intermediates. A must-have for serious collectors of historic Porsche race cars, the 908/2 serves as a strong counterpoint to the better-known 917s of the era.

SPECIFICATIONS: 1:18 scale (approximately ten inches in length). Diecast metal body, features opening hood, doors, and engine cover. Poseable steering.

PERFECT FOR: Porsche devotees. Fans of the golden era of international sports car racing. Those who believe that lighter is better.
