Porsche 916 (1971) - 1:43 Scale Diecast Model Car
Developed at the peak of Porsche's dominance in international sports car racing, the 916 is a glimpse of what might have been. Intended to be a direct roadgoing competitor for the Dino 246, the 916 was powered by the same 190-horsepower flat six that sat in the rear of the 911S, but with its lighter weight and mid-engined layout the 916 was a better performer than its rear-engined brother. Due to softening Porsche sales, however, the 916 project was shelved after the completion of only eleven prototypes, making it one of the rarest street Porsches ever created. Now known mostly to the cognoscenti, the Porsche 916 has been honored with a 1:43-scale diecast replica by Minichamps that captures all of the snarling aggression of this stillborn supercar. Its fender flares shroud an authentic set of miniature Fuchs alloys, and its interior has been executed with the detail that has made Minichamps the leader in 1:43 for nearly 30 years.
