The 1973 SCCA Can Am season was dominated by Mark Donohue's Sunoco-liveried Porsche 917/30, but the preceding year's 917/10 still had competitive life left in it, with a number of privateer teams mixing it up with the factory-backed Penske 917/30 with varying degrees of success. Among them were the RC Cola-sponsored Rinzler Motosport 917/10s of George Follmer and Charlie Kemp, which would evolve throughout the season in an attempt to keep up with the crushing power of the 917/30. One example was the wild-winged version fielded by Follmer in the Monterey Grand Prix at Laguna Seca, now the subject of a limited-edition 1:43 scale resin replica by Spark. Its lustrous white-on-blue paint and charming RC Cola stickers drape a beautifully executed body, while underneath you'll find an accurate gearbox and exhaust. Inside, Spark's usual attention to detail is evident in a gem-like racing cockpit. An important footnote in Porsche and Can Am history, the 917/10 Monterey Grand Prix is certain to appeal to any serious collector of 1:43-scale vintage race cars.
