1983 marked the second year that the 24 Hours of Le Mans was contested under the FIA's Group C rules for sports prototypes. The year before, Porsche's new 956 ground-effect coupe scored a clean sweep of the podium, but that was only a warm-up for what lay in store in 1983. With a full field of factory and privateer cars, the Porsche 956 would claim the top eight finishing positions, headed by the factory-backed Rothmans entry of Americans Hurley Haywood and Al Holbert, and Australian Vern Schuppan. The iconic, era-defining Rothmans 956 is now available in a premium-grade 1:43-scale resin model car by Spark. Its lithe, aerodynamic shape is captured here in perfect proportion, complimented by a number of authentic details from lighting and aerial to front brake cooling covers.
SPECIFICATIONS: 1:43 scale (approximately four inches in length). Resin body, no opening parts. Fixed-position steering. Comes with supplemental sponsor decals.
PERFECT FOR: Porsche fanatics. Collectors of Le Mans-winning racers. Fans of the greatest era in sports prototype racing.
