Bob Bondurant and the Shelby Cobra were one of the great car-and-driver pairings in the history of motorsport, and though Bondurant's greatest successes came at the wheel of the slippery Cobra Daytona Coupe, he was no slouch in the blockish Cobra Roadster. Bondurant proved his mastery of the difficult-handling Roadster in the 1964 Spa 500-kilometer endurance race for GT cars. Facing down the aerodynamically superior competition from Ferrari, Porsche and Jaguar, Bondurant muscled his Cobra 289 Competition Roadster to victory in the over-3 liter class, setting the stage for his class win in a Daytona Coupe at Le Mans later that year, and for his near-total dominance of the 1965 FIA Championship for Makes.
Bob Bondurant's Spa-winning Cobra 289 Competition Roadster is the latest in TSM's line of finely detailed 1:43-scale resin Shelby replicas. Replete with fine touches, from its accurate Halibrand knock-offs to its spartan instrument cluster, the Bondurant Spa Cobra from TSM is a must-have for serious collectors of scale-model Shelby race cars.
