Following the horrific events of the preceding year's race, the 1956 running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans was a somber event, yet one which nonetheless provided thrilling racing in challenging weather conditions. In what would largely become a battle of attrition, overall victory that year would go to the privately entered Jaguar D-Type of Ecurie Ecosse, driven by Ninian Sanderson and Ron Flockhart, winning by one lap from their nearest Aston Martin rivals. This seemingly indestructable D-Type is now available as a highly detailed 1:43-scale resin replica by Spark, as part of their 100th-anniversary of Le Mans series. It's beautiful matte blue paint is draped over a perfectly rendered body, matched to accurate race wheels and cockpit. A hugely significant car in racing history, the Ecurie Ecosse Jaguar D-Type by Spark deserves consideration for placement in any collection of 1:43-scale Le Mans winners
