Following a decade of success in the smaller-displacement IMSA GTU sports car racing categories, Mazda turned their attention in 1990 to the "big bore" category of GTO with a four-rotor RX-7 that packed 640 horsepower and banshee wail unlike anything else on the grid. A moderately successful first-year campaign would lead to a GTO championship in 1991, a key component of what would later be viewed as Mazda's golden era in motorsport.
New from TSM is this highly detailed 1:43-scale resin replica of Mazda's shrieking RX-7 GTO, as it appeared in victory in the 1990 Mid-Ohio 250km race, driven by Pete Halsmer. Fine details abound in this model, including accurate cockpit and ductwork, prominent aero components, and beautiful race rims.
